- In the early days of Houston the church service was the only form of social life.
- The first church in Houston was the Methodist church in 1824, at a church member’s home.
- In 1908 they built a brick church (shown below).
- In 1934 the Methodist congregation was dissolved and the Church of Christ purchased their brick building. The church is still the primary social attraction for Houston.
